Recently, the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB), signed two landmark MoUs for advancing decarbonization and technological innovation in the cement industry.

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the 18^th NCB International Conference and Exhibition on Cement and Concrete.

• The 18^th NCB International Conference & Exhibition on Cement is being held from 27th – 29th November 2024 at Yashobhoomi, IICC Dwarka, New Delhi.
• The theme of this year's conference is "Cementing the Net Zero Future"

First Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

• It was signed between NCB and the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), India to promote research in the area of decarbonization within the Indian cement sector.
• This will boost the ongoing efforts to make the Indian Cement Industry “Net Zero” by 2070.

Second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

• This MoU was signed between NCB and AIC-Plasmatech Innovation Foundation in the application of Thermal Plasma Torch Technology in Cement production. 
• This MoU will explore the potential applications of Thermal Plasma Technologies in the Cement Manufacturing Process.

National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB)

• NCB is a premier body under the administrative control of the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, for technology development, transfer, continuing education and industrial services for cement and construction industries.
• It was founded in 1962 as the Cement Research Institute of India (CRI) to promote research and scientific work connected with cement and building materials trade and industry.
• It serves as the nodal agency for providing necessary support to the government for the formulation of its policy and planning activities related to the growth and development of the cement industry.
