Trump pauses strikes on Iran, says deal is possible

U.S. President Donald Trump, who issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran on Saturday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face strikes on its power infrastructure, said on Monday that he would postpone the at-tacks for five days after "very good and productive" talks with Tehran.

Amidst protests over non-tribal participation in a tribal council election in Meghalaya, the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) on Monday ap-proved a key amendment mandating that only Scheduled Tribe members can contest the polls, effectively ending the participation of non-tribals after over seven decades, officials said.

An answer to all these challenges may partly lie in ad-dressing a leading cause and con-sequence of TB in India, which is undernutrition, closely related to poverty, food insecurity and a pre-dominantly cereal-based diet with deficient protein intake.

Against the backdrop of the war in West Asia, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday said the "evolving multipolar or-der" calls for "greater cooperation" between India and Russia both bilaterally as well as multilaterally through groupings such as BRICS, SCO, G-20, and the United Nations.

Net FDI negative for fifth straight month

Net FDI into India contract-ed for the fifth consecutive month in January 2026, with outflows exceeding inflows by nearly $1.4 billion, a three-month high. The data shows this was because inflows into India fell nearly 7% while the amount repatriated out of the country nearly doubled.

Lok Sabha sends Corporate Law Amendment Bill 2026 to JPC

The government introduced the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha following which the House adopted a motion to send the pro-posed legislation to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed examination.
