The SSB Interview is conducted over 5 days including screening, psychology tests, group tasks, personal interview, and conference.

What is the Screening Test on Day 1?

It includes: OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating) Test – verbal & non-verbal reasoning PPDT (Picture Perception & Discussion Test) – writing and group narration on a shown picture

Is there any physical test in SSB?

While there is no dedicated physical test, the GTO tasks are physically demanding. Candidates should maintain good fitness for tasks like: Individual obstacles (IO) Group obstacle race (GOR) or Snake race Physical outdoor group tasks (PGT, HGT, Command Task and FGT)

How can I appear for SSB without any written exam?

You can appear through direct entries, such as: NCC Special Entry Technical Entry Scheme (TES) 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry SSC Tech TGC JAG Entry Army Medical Corps, etc.

How many attempts are allowed for SSB?

There is no official limit to the number of SSB attempts, but your age and eligibility for a particular entry determine how many times you can appear.

What is the medical standard for SSB?

After clearing SSB, candidates must pass a Medical Examination conducted by military doctors. Key checks include: Physical fitness Eye and ear health No permanent disabilities or chronic illnesses

What happens if I get screened out or conference out?

Screened out: You go home after Day 1 (can apply again if still eligible) Conference out: You stay for all 5 days but not selected (can apply again in next eligible entry)

Can I choose my SSB Interview date?

Yes, for most entries like NDA/CDS/AFCAT, you can select your SSB date from the available options on the respective official portal after receiving your call letter.

Is coaching necessary for SSB?

Not mandatory, but good mentorship or coaching helps improve: Communication skills Psychological test performance Confidence in GTO and interviews

Do SSB Interviews differ for Army, Navy, and Air Force?

The basic structure is the same, but some details like PIQ form, interview focus, and training centers may vary slightly.

What is the dress code for SSB Interview?

Screening & Interview: Formal wear (shirt-pants, tie optional) GTO: White T-shirt, shorts/track pants, sports shoes Carry extra pairs of clothes and personal items

What rank is given after SSB selection?

Candidates who clear SSB + Medical + Merit List are trained at academies. After training, they are commissioned as Lieutenants (Army), Sub-Lieutenants (Navy), or Flying Officers (Air Force).
