UP report on Ganga water quality during Maha Kumbh lacks adequate details: NGT

The NGT rapped the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) and the UP government for not submitting adequate details on faecal coliform and other water quality parameters, such as oxygen levels, in the Ganga in Prayagraj. It granted the state government a week to place on record latest water quality analysis reports from different points of river at Maha Kumbh Mela site.

The unravelling of international climate change architecture, a fear that has become real after the US withdrew from Paris Agreement, could mean "a death sentence for most of humanity" but the "door remains open for the US to return", said UN Climate Change chief.

Why global sea ice cover has dipped to record low - what this means

Sea ice refers to the free-floating ice in the polar regions. While it generally expands during the winter and melts in the summers, some sea ice remains year-round. 

Between 1981 and 2010, Arctic Sea ice extent in September-when it reached its minimum extent - shrunk at a rate of 12.2% per decade, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

MOSPI to release new capex survey, monthly labour force data from FY26

Amid a focus on increasing the frequency of economic data release, a new survey report on the private sector's capex intentions will be released by the government on April 30 this year. Monthly labour force surveys and a new release date for factory output data to reduce the time lag in the release are also in the offing by the government's statistics ministry, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) from the upcoming financial year.
