Parliament clears Bill on births, deaths registration

The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026 amid protests by Opposition members demanding an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the police action to against student protesters. The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 will amend the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, Income-Tax Act, 2025, and the Fi-nance Act, 2026.
