Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM)

Context: 

Recently, The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) launched the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) at the first ‘Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference 2025.

Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM):

  • The primary objective of the DBIM is to create a unified and consistent digital brand for the Government of India.
  • As part of the Gov.In: Harmonisation of Government of India's Digital Footprint initiative, the DBIM seeks to establish a standardized and seamless digital presence across government ministries, departments, and agencies.
  • DBIM will enhance the government's "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance" approach by introducing "Uniform Governance," and it aligns with the vision of "Reform, Perform, and Transform"

Features of the DBIM initiative:

The DBIM launch was accompanied by the introduction of several critical components to harmonize India’s digital presence:

  • DBIM Toolkit for ensuring uniformity in digital identity.
  • Government In CMS Platform for streamlined website management.
  • Central Content Publishing System (CCPS) for centralized content governance.
  • Social Media Campaign Guidelines to standardize digital communication.

The launch also featured the unveiling of the DBIM-compliant MeitY website, demonstrating a consistent and citizen-friendly digital experience.

India-Argentina Exploring Lithium

Context: 

Recently, India and Argentina signed an MoU to Strengthen Cooperation in Lithium Exploration and Mining.

MoU was signed between Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL), a PSU under the Ministry of Mines, and the Provincial Government of Catamarca, Argentina.

The discussions covered ongoing lithium exploration efforts by Khanij Bidesh India Ltd. (KABIL) & Greenko in Catamarca and the possibilities of increasing the participation of Indian companies in mining projects in Argentina and Latin America.

Argentina, known for its vast lithium reserves as part of the 'Lithium Triangle’.

  • The Lithium Triangle is a lithium-rich region in the Andean southwest corner of South America, spanning the borders of Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile.

Lithium 

  • It is a silver-white coloured soft metal that belongs to the alkali metal group. 
  • It is the lightest metal and the least dense solid (at room temperature) element.
  • It is Highly flammable and reactive, it is usually stored in mineral oil to preserve it from corrosion and tarnish. 
  • It is best known for its role in rechargeable batteries.
  • Australia is the largest producer followed by Chile and China.

189th birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa

Context: 

The Prime Minister paid tributes to Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa on his 189th birth anniversary.

Sri Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa

  • He was born on February 18, 1836, at Kamarpukur village in the Hooghly District of Bengal. 
  • He became a priest in a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali in Kali Temple in Dakshineswar, Calcutta in the 1850s.
  • His message was that god can be realized only by renunciation of “women and God”.
  • He was a Hindu religious leader, and founder of the school of religious thought that became the Ramakrishna Order.
  • He practised spiritual disciplines according to the Tantra and the Puranas.
  • He appointed Vivekanand as his successor.
  • He died in the early hours of August 16, 1886. 
  • His disciple, Swami Vivekananda, established the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897 and spread his teachings.

World Day of Social Justice 2025

Context: 

The United Nations celebrated the World Day of Social Justice on February 20th.

World Day of Social Justice 

The day was established by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) during its 62nd session in 2007, the World Day of Social Justice has been celebrated annually on 20th Feb since the 63rd session in 2009.

  • India has also been observing the day since 2009.

It aims to address poverty, exclusion, and unemployment while promoting solidarity, harmony, and equality of opportunity within and between societies.

The day emphasizes that social justice cannot be attained without peace, security, and respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms.

International Organization of Aids to Marine Navigation (IALA)

Context:

India is elected to the Vice Presidency of the International Organization of Aids to Marine Navigation (IALA) in Singapore.

  • IALA was founded in 1957 as the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) (earlier name) as a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) to bring together marine aids to navigation authorities, manufacturers, consultants, and scientific and training institutes from all parts of the world.
  • In August 2024 IALA officially changed its status from a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) to an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) based on a Convention ratified or acceded to by 34 States to date.
  • The new organization is named The International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation.
  • India is hosting the IALA Council meeting in December 2025 and the IALA Conference & General Assembly in September 2027 in Mumbai.
  • IALA Headquarter: - Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France.
