Guernsey

• The States Assembly of Guernsey hosted the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) in January 2025.
• Guernsey is a British crown dependency and the second-largest island in the Channel Islands.
• It is 30 miles (48 km) west of Normandy, France, and roughly triangular in shape. 
• Its capital is St. Peter Port. 

Pithampur

• The toxic waste from the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) stored at the factory site in Bhopal was transported to Pithampur 
• Pithampur is located around 250 km from Bhopal in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.

Gulf Of Mexico

• The President of the USA signed an executive order requiring the federal government to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on official maps.
• The Google Maps will also update the change for its users in the United States.
• However, for users in Mexico it will still be referred to as the “Gulf of Mexico.” For users outside both countries, Google Maps will display both names simultaneously.
